COADE STONE

This is a photo of a KEYSTONE which is made out of COADE STONE it is stamped underneath with the name LAMBETH and the date of 1797 making this keystone which is known as the smiling barister 209 years old (2006) I have researched COADE STONE on the internet and with books from the library and have found out that COADE STONE was made in Lambeth  (which is in London ) in the 1700/1800 and that the factory closed down in the 1800's and that a lot of COADE STONE was used on Buckinham Palace and other great buildings ,it is supposed to be better at weathering the climate than ordinary stone, it came into my possesion about twenty five years ago.
